The Macedonians inhabited Macedonia of course.  They were very similar to the Greeks and had many aspects of

Phillip II and his soldiers

their culture, Macedonia and Greece were later both conquered by Rome.  The most famous Macedonian king was Alexander the Great, and also Phillip II.

They worshipped a god of war like the Greek god Ares, called Thaulos.  They also had a goddess of wisdom like Athena called Gyga and a god of light called Xandos.  In the Macedonian religion, Heracles (or Hercules) was called Aretos.  The Macedonian pantheon later went by the original Greek names.   Many Macedonians spoke the classical Greek language but modern day Macedonians speak Macedonian, which is Slavic.
