Metin was born to a low ranking Avar foot soldier and an Avar priestess. Growing up, Metin was skilled at javelin throwing, running, and hunting. He was an excellent athlete and also loved hawks, having a pet hawk named Asuman.
When Metin was 18, he became the advisor and right hand man to Mert Kartal. He had been good friends with Mert, as a teenager.
